District Assessments

The School District of Milton is committed to continuously using student data to drive curricular, instructional and programming decisions.  The district utilizes the Balanced Assessment System of state standardized tests, district screeners, benchmark assessments and classroom summative and formative assessments to measure student progress and growth.

WI DPI Accountability School Report Card

Beginning in 2011-12, a comprehensive accountability index replaced the Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) system. Accountability Determinations (the index score and rating) will be reported annually in the School Report Card.  Four priority areas includes: Student Achievement, Student Growth, Closing Gaps, and On-Track to Graduation and Postsecondary Readiness.

State Standardized Assessments

The Wisconsin Student Assessment System (WSAS) is a comprehensive statewide program designed to provide information about what students know in core academic areas and whether they can apply what they know. The Federal No Child Left Behind Act required all states to test all students in reading and mathematics in grades 3 through 8 and once in high school. Student performance on these assessments is reported in proficiency categories and used for accountability determination at the school, district and state levels.

District Screeners

The School District of Milton utilizes several screeners to assess students’ mastery and proficiency of the standards.  For early elementary years, teacher utilize Literacy Assessments compiled by the SDM Reading Department, iReady, Wonders, and PALS to assess students in reading. Students in grades 2-12 are assessed in reading and mathematics using iReady three times a year.
