School District of Milton Selects Jeremy Bilhorn For Superintendent Role

The School District of Milton Board of Education is excited to announce that they have selected Milton High School Principal Jeremy Bilhorn as the District’s next superintendent. Bilhorn will replace Superintendent Rich Dahman following his planned retirement at the end of the 2025-26 school year. 

 

The Board is expected to officially approve Mr. Bilhorn’s hiring at an upcoming regularly scheduled board meeting in April. Upon board approval, Mr. Bilhorn will officially step into the role on July 1, 2026.

 

Bilhorn’s selection follows a comprehensive national search that included significant input from local stakeholders.

 

School Board Dr. Annette Smith shared, “Jeremy Bilhorn rose to the top of a very qualified candidate pool because of his experience in leadership and his vision for our District. He has a great passion for education and an extensive skill set that made him our selection to move into the Superintendent role.”

 

“This was not an easy decision as the board had three highly qualified finalists to consider,” she emphasized. “We are also very grateful for an enthusiastic and engaged community, including our staff and students, who provided their very thoughtful feedback during this selection process.” 

 

Bilhorn has been a member of the Milton High School community since 1997, serving as an educator and department chair before becoming principal in 2008. His time in MIlton has been marked by significant facility improvements, academic program expansions, and a deep commitment to community partnerships

February 2 – February 13, 2026 – Online Survey

February 4 – February 15, 2026 –  Staff, Student, And Community Focus Groups 

March 9, 2026 Slate of candidates presented to the Board

March 14, 2026 – First Round Interviews (Board Only)

March 16, 2026 – Finalists Will Be Announced To Public

March 18, 2026 Finalists’ “Day in the District”

8:00 am – 5:45 pm : Final 3 Candidates Tour Locations In The District

6:00 pm – 8:10 pm: Community Members Meet & Greet at Milton High School

March 19, 2026 Board conducts final interviews

Mid- to Late-March 2026 Board selection is made. Offer to candidate is made.

Late March or Early April 2026 – Selected candidate is announced, approved by Board in open session

July 1, 2026 – New Superintendent’s contract officially begins

To find the right fit for Milton, the Board and HYA sought feedback from our community. During January and February 2026, HYA consultants met with stakeholders across the district to understand what matters most to our community members, staff, and students.

This feedback has been compiled into a Leadership Profile Assessment. The Board and our search team are now using this report as their roadmap to recruit a candidate whose leadership style and character align with our district’s unique needs.
