Apple ID Information
We are excited to bring a 1:1 technology experience to all students! Under this initiative, every Milton student will have a device assigned to them. Having a device always available will ensure your student has the tools they need to be successful in a 21st century learning environment.
To be successful managing and distributing applications to these devices, there is an item that we need your help with. Prior to the start of the school year, each student will need a personal Apple ID. There are two types of Apple IDs, one for students under the age of 13 and one for those students who are 13 and older. Apple ID’s only need to be created once.
Apple ID for Students Under 13
For students under 13, Apple IDs will be requested from Apple by the school district. An email will then be sent to you from Apple asking a parent or guardian to set up the Apple ID online request form. When the parent or guardian completes the online request form, an Apple ID will be created for the student. Apple IDs for students under 13 include the following features:
Account settings, such as email address and date of birth, cannot be changed. Limit Ad Tracking is turned on for the account to ensure the student does not receive targeted advertising from Apple.
Students are unable to opt-in to receive marketing materials. A parent or guardian can be notified of any significant changes to the terms of the account. Once your student reaches age 13, the Apple ID converts to a full account with full rights and privileges. (Students can continue to access any classwork, notes, books, or apps associated with their Apple IDs.)
Apple ID for Students 13 and over
For students 13 years old and over, Apple IDs can be created by the student. Parents may also play an active role in creating the account, if they so choose. We recommend this be an Apple ID dedicated for school use only. Students may use an existing Apple ID. Each student’s Apple ID will be loaded into our district management system. Click here for instructions on creating a new Apple ID (does not require use of credit card).
