PRISM Program Plan
In order to maximize the full potential of gifted and talented students, the School District of Milton offers appropriate, continuous, and systematic educational services. These services will include alternative curricular and instructional opportunities, which can benefit all students, not only those identified as gifted and talented.
Talent Assessment:
- To maintain a continuous identification and evaluation process.
- To coordinate K-12 programming motivated by the identification process.
Curriculum:
- To assist teachers in differentiating classroom activities.
- To assist teachers in developing alternative teaching strategies.
Communication:
- To promote communication among students, parents, teachers, administration, the community, and the school board.
The PRISM program emphasizes a "need-based" approach. Upon the identification of a need, several program options are available to provide appropriate educational programming for the student.
These options are summarized in the figure that follows which is based on the Wisconsin Comprehensive Integrated Gifted Program Model.
