Milton West Information:

Greetings from Milton West Elementary School. Teachers and I are excited to begin the 2015-2016 school year. My special thanks go out to our staff, and the time that you as parents and families spend reading, talking about school, helping with math, and being involved in your child’s education!

Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS)

Students and staff are doing a great job of modeling the “West Way” at school, on the playground, and on the bus. Students are currently working diligently to continue to develop their character, and I appreciate the effort that staff, students and parents put into learning to live "The West Way".

School Safety

Help keep our students safe. Please do not drop-off or pick-up students from 8:10-8:40 am and from 3:15-3:40 pm in the circle drive or parking lot. Also, thank you for reminding your child to walk on the sidewalks.

Before School

Student supervision begins at 8:20 am each morning. Please do not bring your child to school before 8:20 am unless they are going to eat school served breakfast at school. Breakfast is served from 8:15 am until 8:30 am. If your child wishes to have breakfast at school, please be sure they arrive in time for the 8:30 am ending time.

Attendance and Illness

Thank you for making student daily attendance an important expectation for your daughter/son. Not only is attendance a district expectation and a state law, yet attendance is needed for students to develop basic skills and critical learning.

Please remember that district health services identify a fever as 100 degrees or higher. A child can return back to school when she/he is fever free for 24 hours without the aid of a fever reducer. Upon their return back to school, students will be expected to participate in recess.

Bits and Pieces:

Scooters and Bicycles·-·For the safety of the other children, we do not allow scooters and bicycles to be ridden on school property. Children must get off of them and walk them to the racks in the back. We strongly recommend that helmets be worn when children are riding either bikes or scooters. They also need to be able to lock them to the racks. This may be difficult with scooters, but we cannot allow them in the school. Many of them are too large for lockers and we don't have storage room in the building

Meal Information:

*Did you know your child can use their lunch card to purchase milk or juice for their lunch?

*During the school year we serve breakfast in the cafeteria. ·Monday through Friday, including early release days, the Cafeteria·serves up a healthy breakfast from 8:15 to 8:30 ·The cost is $1 per student, but is free to those students who qualify for free or reduced meals.
