Director of Curriculum and Instruction
The Director of Curriculum and Instruction serves the district in multiple capacities including overseeing and aligning all PreK-12 curriculum, assessment, instruction and scope/sequencing; developing and implementing professional development for certified and support staffing including New Teacher Induction; directing Instructional Technology, ELL, PRISM, Reading, Math, Library Media and Response to Intervention programming; supervising the Instructional Technology, ELL, PRISM, Reading, Math and Library Media departments; serving as the District Assessment Coordinator, Title I Coordinator, Educator Effectiveness Coach, and Response to Intervention Coordinator; monitoring all ESSA (Title I, Title II and Title III) programming; coordinating all state standardized assessments and district screeners; supporting and providing professional development and direction to building administration; serving on the District Administration Team; maintaining district-level initiatives including the Strategic Plan, Teacher Compensation Model and 1:1 Technology Program; and maintaining and supervising all district curriculum budget, staffing and support.
Professional Background
Heather Slosarek earned a Bachelors of Arts in English from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Secondary Education Teaching Certification from Edgewood College. Upon completing her undergraduate work, Slosarek earned both her Masters of Education in Instructional Technology and Masters of Science in Educational Leadership from Cardinal Stritch University. She has spent her entire professional career in the School District of Milton serving as a high school English teacher and Language Department Chair for six and a half years, a 7-12 Instructional Coach for one and a half years, MHS Associate Principal of Teaching and Learning for two years and is currently serving as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction. Slosarek serves as the MHS Varsity Boys Tennis Team Head Coach and the Stage Director for the MHS Musical Program. She has attended numerous trainings on leadership, curriculum and assessment development, CCSS/CCRS, Aligned by Design, Response to Intervention, Educator Effectiveness, ACT and other state assessments, and technology integration (including an Apple Chief Instructional Officer leadership training).
